Please join us on Sunday August 23, 2020 for the 3rd Annual Woods at Bear Creek Trail Races at the beautiful Woods at Bear Creek Resort in Franklinville, New York. This year we will once again be offering two great options for you to choose from. You can run the same great 5K as last year that takes place entirely on the gravel park roads. This course features THREE challenging hills and spectacular views of the resort. The finish line is located adjacent to the restaurant along the west shore of Bear Creek Lake. For those of you interested in running the 5 Mile Run/Trail Combo, we have something special lined up just for you! You will run your first 5K with the rest of the participants and cross the finish line. You will receive an official 5K time for that event and would be eligible for any/all awards associated with that race. BUT...you aren't done yet! After crossing the finish line you will be directed to the off-road trails. The trail we designed for this event (subject to change) winds its way up and down the hills and around Bear Creek Lake before merging back onto the main road and finish line. Depending on the weather, these trails can be wet and muddy so be prepared for the worst.
This year we are asking participants to support The Warrior House of WNY! The Warrior House of WNY is a 501c3 Veterans service organization and farm located in Orleans and Niagara County in Western New York. The farm consists of nearly 1500 acres dedicated to for hunting geese, ducks, turkey, deer, and pheasant. The hunts are organized for wounded Vets, and children who have lost their parent in a war.
The Warrior House of WNY recently expanded its mission to offer direct support for wounded veterans, and partners with the V.A and Buffalo Family Readiness to offer a multitude of services, and can assist wounded veterans with maneuvering their way through the red tape.

START/FINISH
Both the 5K Run/Walk and the 5 Mile Run/Trail Combo will start at 9:30am. The finish line is adjacent to the Woods at Bear Creek restaurant and bar located on the south shore of Bear Creek Lake. We have decided to limit the total number of race participants to 150 maximum runners on race day in 3 waves (50 max participants per wave). Each participant will start individially and run individually. We plan on starting runners one at a time with faster runners going ahead of slower runners to allow for proper social distancing on the course and to comply with state guidelines.

REGISTRATION & PACKET PICKUP
Online registration will remain open until Saturday August 22 at 9am. We will only be able to allow paper registration on race morning as there is no wifi connection at the resort. Packet pickup will take place at the resort from 8:00am until the start at 9:30am. We will provide a water station on the course and bottled water at the finish line. Participants can purchase lunch on their own inside the Bear Creek Lodge after the race!

This beautiful and scenic race take place entirely on gravel roadways at the resort. It will start and finish near the restaurant/lounge and features three challenging hill climbs.
>5 Mile Run/Trail Combo ................. $25/$30 after 8/17
Participants will run the first 5K (see above) with all other participoants. After crossing the finish line runners will be directed to the off-road trails. These trails wind up and down the hills surrounding Bear Creek Lake. Depending on the time of year and weather leading up to the race these trails can be quite muddy!

POST RACE CELEBRATION
Join us for a socially distant post race celebration along Bear Creek Lake. The restaurant will be open for lunch and the full service bar will also be open (patio seating only during COVID).

DIRECTIONS & PARKING
Directions: From Buffalo take the 400 East all the way to the end and it turns into Route 16 South. Stay on Route 16 South passing Lime Lake and Machias. My GPS wanted to turn off route 16 in Machias (do not do this!) STAY ON Route 16 South from Machias toward Franklinville and you will see a sign for Bear Creek Road and The Woods at Bear Creek on your right. Follow that road for a couple miles and you will see the entrance to the resort. There is plenty of free parking at the resort!
AGE GROUPS & AWARDS
There will be no formal awards ceremony after the race during COVID. All participants will be able to print out custom finisher certificates from home after the race.
Age Groups: 14 and under, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69. 70-74, 75-79, 80 and older.

CANCELLATION POLICY
There will be no refunds. In the event of foul weather, public safety concerns, or for any other reason deemed necessary by race organizers (ex: state of emergency, etc), we reserve the right to postpone/reschedule the event at our discretion or offer a virtual alternative if necessary.
TIMING & FINISH LINE SERVICES
Gun start/chip finish timing services using industry leading Jaguar Electronic RFID timing will be provided by Race Management Solutions. Results are updated throughout the race in real time and can be accessed at any time after crossing the finish line using any one of the following options:
